One Company File

QuickBooks Business Bookkeeping CleanupEach company closes on its own day

Pick the day and keep it. Both companies, or only the one that was split.

Pick the day
Each company closes on the tenth, and each bank line matches its books.

What a close is, once the file matches

A close is the month tied, the open items named, the owner activity on its own line, and a statement you can hand to someone without a speech. When two companies shared a login, none of that was readable, because the statement was a blend.

After the split, each file can close on a day you pick. The same day every month. Some owners like the tenth. The tenth is a habit, not a statute. The point is that the day does not move.

A close that lands on the same day every month is the ritual the return can trust. We go to that day on purpose. The month can arrive with a notice on the kitchen table after the shop has closed, and the close still lands where you already put it. The day you keep is more useful than a day that moves with the mail.

Statements and the lender

A lender can read one company's statements. If a statement is prepared here, it carries no assurance. The wording is plain. We do not dress a management statement up as something a firm with an attest signature would sign.

You can ask for both companies, or only the one that was split out of the old login. The other can wait a month. It should not wait a year.

Payday, set up and then yours

Payday can be set up per company. Registrations, a provider, and the accounts the wages will land in. You run each payday yourself. Once the wage accounts exist, those pay dates remain yours.

No payroll means the close shows no wage line. We do not add one to fill the space. The close says so.

What you can hand someone after the close

A closed month has the open items named, the owner activity on its own line, and a statement that does not need a speech. When two companies shared a login, none of that was readable, because the statement was a blend. After the split, each file can be handed to a lender on its own.

If a statement is prepared here, it carries no assurance. We do not dress a management statement up as something a firm with an attest signature would sign. The wording is plain, and it travels with the statement.

You can ask for both companies in the same month, or only the one that was split out. The other can wait a month. It should not wait a year. The day you pick, the tenth or another day, is a habit. The point is that the day does not move.

Months that have been tied are what the return stands on. A login that mixed two names cannot support that return, even when the bank is tied. The tie can be real and the statements can still be a blend. We say which one you have before we build.
